Dependable extinguisher, February 20, 2011 By Rocket Man "rocket man" (Central Coast California) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kidde 21005779 Pro 210 Fire Extinguisher, ABC, 160CI (Tools & Home Improvement) We bought one of these 12 years ago. Just went to a neighborhood fire safety training session done by local Fire Dept. This model worked great in putting out the fire, after having been stored in our kitchen for 12 years. The gauge showed full charge "in the green" and it was accurate. The fireman directing the event was impressed. He did mention that because these are powder-based, inverting and shaking them occasionally was a good idea. We had never done that and it still had plenty of distance and power to put out the flames. Approximately 12 to 15 seconds of powder spray with a reach of about 6-8 feet. We will be replacing the one we just used with the same kind. Other reviews have dis'd the construction, and yes compared to the industrial / professional units the fireman had, the metal on the handle is thinner. For a home unit, it's fine.

Dependable Extinguisher pt 2, March 3, 2011 By Wilcox1976 (Greenville SC area) - See all my reviews This review is from: Kidde 21005779 Pro 210 Fire Extinguisher, ABC, 160CI (Tools & Home Improvement) Needed an extinguisher for my ManCave.
I just bought one of these at walmart. There was 3 of them there and the price tag said $19.95. I went to the checkout and the scanned price was $43! They sold me one at the shelf price.
I bought it due to Amazon review "Dependable extinguisher" and the price. How can you argue with "Rocket Man's" actual experience of using it on a fire and the fact that it was sitting for 12 years and still operable!
The handle seems fine to me and I work with "mechanicals".
Love the fact it comes with a metal bracket. Has metal construction, pressure gauge, solid feel, a BIG sticker to place on the wall (was going to buy a sticker or make one separately and here it comes with one!).
It's also not a throw away... You can have it refilled... although you may pay as much as a replacement?
What more can you ask for?
Remember PASS before you use it.

A hard product to review!, May 16, 2011 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Kidde 21005779 Pro 210 Fire Extinguisher, ABC, 160CI (Tools & Home Improvement) I suppose I could set a small fire in my house and see how well this product works, but that doesn't seem like a good idea. So this is really a review on the build quality, and some comments on the shipping process.
Product arrived with the meter well into the green range. As for the extra 1 - 2 days to ship, it's because this is a hazmat item that needs special paperwork that's hand initialed and such. (Mine ended up shipping from some place in Oklahoma that's not an Amazon warehouse, so I guess they contract this out. Took 4 business days from ordering to receiving it since it only ships ground.)
It's solidly built, not cheap plastic like the lower-end Kidde stuff; it has a nice solid heft to it, without being heavy. It comes with a bracket to easily mount it if you want, and slides quite easily in and out of said bracket. Hopefully I won't get a chance to try it out and edit this review!
